EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Kearney, Nebraska

Kearney Housing Agency (KHA) is seeking an experienced and mission-driven leader to serve as its next Executive Director. KHA administers public housing, Section 8 vouchers, ROSS and FSS grants, meal programs, management contracts with nearby housing agencies, and works closely with an affiliated nonprofit organization supporting housing initiatives. Reporting to the KHA Board of Commissioners and partner housing agency boards, the Executive Director provides strategic, operational, and financial leadership for the agency and supervises approximately 23 staff.

Qualifications
The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to provide strategic vision, lead a complex organization, and build strong relationships with residents, staff, community partners, and governing boards.

Significant experience in organizational leadership, operational oversight, property management, budgeting, personnel supervision, procurement, grants, contracts, and financial administration is required. Experience working with governing boards is strongly preferred.

Strong oral and written communication skills are essential. Proficiency with standard business technology and relevant enterprise or housing management systems is required.

Education and Experience
A bachelor’s degree in business, public administration, accounting, or a related field is preferred. At least three years of management experience is required. Equivalent relevant education and experience will be considered. Working knowledge of HUD regulations and housing programs is strongly preferred. Candidates without direct HUD experience must obtain certifications in Public Housing and Section 8, within 12 months of hire.

Compensation and Application
KHA offers a competitive salary starting at $75,000, commensurate with experience, and excellent benefits.
